    Orthopaedic 3D Digital Design Platform—TOMA Virtual Bone Database

    The orthopaedic 3D digital design platform,based on the virtual bone database, is independently developed by Trauson R&D. TOMA ( Trauson Orthopaedic Modeling & Analytics) includes the following functions: (1) 3D bone model reconstruction, through image segmentation and  modeling; (2) statistical analysis of the bone models, through the technique of paired-points and automatic measurement of the characters such as length, angle, and average shape et al; (3) pre-operation assessment and perform a virtual surgery to place the implant on the patient’s virtual bone; (4) based on the virtual bone database, different shape and bone trabecular structures can be automatically generated to meet the designing requirement.

    Advantages of TOMA Digital Design Platform

    The digital design platform has built the connections between the manufacture, the patient, and the surgeon, which ensures the surgeon to join the R&D activity helping the manufacture to develop better products for the patients. This platform can be easily and perfectly integrated with the 3D printing technology. Meanwhile, more data coming from TOMA will encourage surgeons to be more involved in the orthopaedic research.
